When designing photo products such as Photo Books or Cards, you can add a unique touch with the Special finishing. This gives your photo product an extra dimension that you can see and feel. For products compatible with this finish, you’ll find the option in the Configurator. In the Special finishing section, select one of the possible options such as Gold to enable this feature in the Designer. Please note: For Photo Books, the special finish is only available on certain covers depending on the material selected, while for Cards it is only available on the Outside.
To apply the special finish to text, first select the added text and open the text editor or click the Text box button on the right. Within the editor, click on the Text colour box to see the full range of options. Look for the Special colours section where you’ll find the selected special finishing. Select this to apply a distinctive effect to your text.
Once you’ve selected the special finishing option in the Photo Product Configurator, you’ll have access to a selection of cliparts with this unique finish.
You can incorporate the special finishing into your designs by using PNG images. When creating your image, apply the special colour to the desired areas using the following values:
Gold:
HEX: #d8a84c
RGB: 216, 168, 76
Rose gold:
HEX: #db876c
RGB: 219, 135, 108
Silver:
HEX: #c0c0c0
RGB: 192, 192, 192
Make sure you export the design as a PNG. PNG files can be saved with transparent backgrounds if required, making them suitable for branding elements such as logos. Once saved, add the PNG to the photo product and select the image. Click on Position to display all available options. At the bottom of the column, you’ll find a checkbox labelled Special finishing. Check this box so that the software correctly recognises the special finishing value when the photo product is sent to print.
